KrAZ brand is a manufacturer of trucks and armored vehicles. Its head office is located in Ukraine in the city of Kremenchuk. This brand was created in April 1958.
History of the KrAZ Brand
In April 1958, by the decision of the Central Committee of the CPSU, it was decided to transfer the production of three-axled heavy JaAZ trucks from Jarosław to Krzemieńczuk. In 1959, the last trucks from production lines in Jarosław were depopulated, and soon after the production was rebuilt, the plant in Krzemieńczuku set off with the assembly of vehicles, and the first cars – ten-car, three-axle dump trucks – appeared on the city streets on April 10, 1959.
On April 16, 1963, a 25-thousandth car came off the tape. In March 1968, by the decision of the minister of the car industry of the USSR, the factory received the name of the 50th anniversary of Soviet Ukraine, and in the same year a truck with the number 100,000 left the belt. A large part of production went to the army, including KrAZ vehicles were used by the People’s Polish Army. At the beginning of the 1970s, the factory exported trucks to 40 countries. In January 1971, the factory was decorated with the order of Lenin.
After the collapse of the USSR and the establishment of an independent Ukraine, hard times for the factory came. In 1991 a trading company KrAZ was established. In November 1994, KrAZ S.A. was registered. From 2004, production exceeded 2 thousand. vehicles annually. In 2006, the 800,000th vehicle came off. In 2009, the production of trucks of the new KrAZ С20.2 6х4 type began. In 2013, the production of armored vehicles also began.
